“I believe that great presenters are made, not born. Everyone has something to say, our mission is to develop you as a speaker so that your message can be clearly heard.”
I started my career as an Exploration Geologist in the wilderness of northern Canada, before taking a turn into Private Equity and Investor Relations based in London.
I organized investment roadshows for US and Canadian companies seeking funds in European financial capitals, working with the CEOs of listed companies and the boards and VC investors of pre-IPO companies seeking to fund via private placements.
It was in this role, in my mid 20’s that I first realized the need to work on my speaking skills. Watching the successful people around me, it dawned on me then just how important a skill it is. More important even than technical ability and formal education. The people at the top weren’t necessarily the best or the brightest. What they had in common was a universal understanding of one thing – how to communicate effectively.
I joined the Oxford Speakers Club, where I was fortunate to receive great support, coaching, and feedback that hugely improved my confidence and skills. I’m immensely grateful to the skilled mentors that helped me in those early days
I then went on to teach presentation and speaking skills to businesspeople all over the world, in parallel with a successful career as a management consultant specializing in oil and gas. I’ve taught hundreds of students, in places such the UK, France, USA, Brazil, Malaysia, and UAE.
As a management consultant, I’ve run countless workshops to develop strategy and led multimillion dollar global programmes to implement. I’ve worked all over the world with clients including BG Group plc. Nexen CNOOC, Centrica plc, e.on, ADCO, Maersk Oil, Halliburton, Schlumberger and Woodside Energy on strategy, business analysis, IT project and programme management.
